I need to run a tool path that returns to point of plunge. That is I have a keyhole cutter that needs to make plunge, run in the +y direction 3/4 ” and return to plunge position without ever moving in the x axis. Any ideas how to do this in V24?

This is a T cutter it makes a 3/8″ hole on entry but the shank is only 1/8″.
When it enter and runs in the y direction it creates an 1/8″ slot. It needs to return to where it entered the stock to make a clean retraction. I hope this makes sense.

use line coordinates line 0 to .750 in y, put 2 lines one on top of the other, use 3d engrave and set depth, window select the lines , compute tool path, has worked for me , i would recomend predrilling hole,
no warranties written or implied,, test it , test it

If you would like the options of profile, you can create dwoods 2 entities and seperate them on layers, then run the contour command and select the 2 entities to create one continuous contour going in the direction you need. Then you can profile it with the go down and return same place action. I guess we could call it a “folded contour”.
