Because the system offers Associative Toolpath functionality you can create a complete job and make changes on the fly without having to start from the beginning. Just make the changes and update the Job Tree. This includes special functionality for posting or not posting features and operations as well.
We have made vast improvements in the intelligence of the system as well allowing you the ability to build or pre-define actual machining operations. Now you can combine operations into features rather than have to do them separately.

CAM Enhancements:
Arc Fit for 3D Operations: The Z-Level Rough, Z-Level Finish and Slice Planar operations now support 3D arc output. The tolerance for the arc segments is input into the feature and carried through into posting. This results in smaller NC programs and smoother transition in radial surfaces.
Chamfer Mill: It is now possible to create a Chamfer Milling operation for individual chains.
Work offsets: You can now define the work offset (G54, G55, G56, etc.) that is utilized for each feature within the CAM Tree.
4th Axis Milling Operations
- Wrapping: You draw your geometry flat and the software wraps it around the diameter of the cylinder. This is limited to X, A, Z or Y, A, Z programming, meaning that you can wrap around the X or Y axis. This programming is not 4 axis simultaneous cutting. The output is actually 2 + 1, meaning that when wrapping around the X axis, you are limited to only X, A, and Z movement. The output of arcs in the 4th axis program can be set to use arc calls or as interpolated line segments. The center of the stock is fixed at X0, Y0, Z0 for wrapping operations.
- Indexing: This is part of the feature. The user gives the feature an angle of rotation (how much they want to rotate the part) and the system will automatically output that rotation in the program prior to the machining operation that is loaded into the job tree. In other words the software automatically does the rotation angle math for the user and posts the code accordingly. All milling operations in the software can be used for this 4th axis feature.

around the X axis. The A axis coordinate mode (Absolute/Incremental) is linked to X and Z programming mode. This means that if the X axis is incremental then the A axis is incremental as well. And vice-versa for Absolute programming mode. The user can specify whether they are programming in Absolute or Incremental mode in posting. This programming is simultaneous cutting. Even though it is simultaneous it IS NOT X, Y, A & Z cutting fluidly. The output of arcs in the program are output as "R" moves or as interpolated line segments. The center of the stock is fixed at X0, Y0, Z0 for wrapping operations.

The new high speed pocketing utilizes the idea of a constant material removal rate to eliminate excessive tool engagement particularly in corner and movements from one toolpath to another. What this means is that the tool feeds and speeds can be dramatically increased, depths of cuts can be increased and tool wear can be minimized.
The real question we should be asking ourselves is what your current pocket machining strategy is costing you in time, tool wear and even long term machine tool wear. The new high speed pocketing allows you to take full advantage of your CNC machine tool when it comes to pocketing. Thus, revolutionizing the pocketing process, saving you time and in the end... a whole lot of money!

This new high speed pocketing toolpath strategy offers many benefits that separates itself from standard offset pocketing algorithms that include support for open ended pocketing. In terms of intelligence, the toolpath automatically adapts to open sides of the pocket to start your tool off the part while still maintaining the constant material removal strategy and minimizing plunging into the material.
The toolpath calculations automatically adjust whether to use a slot milling or side milling strategy to optimize the cycle times. Users can force side milling only for harder materials to avoid burying the tool in the material. This added intelligence means that the feed rates for each movement of the toolpath are optimized, so if the tool is traveling over an area that has all ready been cut, the tool can be lifted and moved at a much higher feed than what is programmed to be used during cutting.

CAD Design Enhancements:
Sprocket: This feature allows the user to create a Sprocket based on user input for Number of Teeth, Roller Radius and Pitch.
Blended Spline: This feature allows the user to generate a Spline that may be made tangent to other entities in the workspace.
Arc Fit: This generates arcs from a series of selected lines in the workspace based on the user input for tolerance.
Break Surface: Cuts/Removes pieces of surfaces using Wire frame geometry
Un-trim Surface: Replaces the pieces of surfaces removed using the Break Surface feature.
Fillet Between Surfaces: Allows the user to create a Surface Fillet between two surfaces that do not share a common edge.
Surface Extend: Allows the user to extend a surface a specific distance
Dimension Point: Allows the user to dimension a point giving the X, Y and Z locations
Rotate Around 3D Line: Allows the user to rotate an entity or group of entities around a 3-dimensional line formed between two snap points or specified locations.
Surface Intersection Curves: Allows the user to create a wire frame chain using the intersection of two surfaces.
Circle From Two Points: Allows the user to create a circle by using two reference locations that determine the diameter of the circle.
DXF/DWG Paper Space Read: Allows the user to import the Paper Space during the import of DWG and DXF files.
Contour Creation: It is now possible to create Contours and specify whether you want the longest entity to be the first entity in the chain or the selected entity. You can also specify the directio0n of the contour as it is being created.
Deform: The Deform Function now works with Spline geometry, allowing you to select positions on the Spline and modify their position.
Roller CAM: This feature allows the user to create a roller CAM shape based on user inputs for Rise, Fall and Dwell Size and Duration.

The BobCAD-CAM V23 system is a solids and surface modeling system. Understand that these delays are not caused by the BobCAD-CAM software. By upgrading your computer to the recommended requirements above, you will be able to execute those functions more efficiently.
